Puss Reboots

I'm reading The Seven Dials Mystery by Agatha Christie and the victim of a practical joke involving eight clocks is found dead and one of the clocks is missing. The clocks in the book are called alarum clocks. In my neck of the woods I've only ever heard them called alarm clocks but the word "alarum" is an acceptable alternative. So, that brings me to my informal poll.
