That's interesting. Do they have guidelines or a list to choose from? I think my idea of a "classic" is: something I really don't want to read (or anything by Jack London or Pearl S. Buck, which is really the same thing).

I don't recall specific guidelines. I checked out most of the other reading lists and the only thing in common seemed to be that the books were published 50+ years ago.

Hi!

I seem to remember you from bookcrossing! I'm lotus77. Does the name ring a bell? So glad you're joining booklogged's challenge. We seem to have "Kim" in common and whereas you're reading Pearl S. Buck's "Fighting Angel", I will be reading "The Good Earth".

Good luck with the challenge and happy reading!

I don't think I've had the pleasure of meeting you via Bookcrossing but I've enjoyed reading your blog for a few months. :)

I chose Kim because I have BookCrossing friend who wants to read it. With the challenge I'll be motivated to read it sooner rather than later and get it into the mail to him.

I'm not sure I'm doing this right - I mean signing in to make a comment. This is booklogged. Just wanted to say that I'm so happy that you are joining the challenge. I'm interested to see what you and Lotus think of Kim. I tried to read it this summer and just couldn't get into it. Maybe it was just the wrong timing. I want to read Uncle Tom's Cabin sometime.

I've liked the other Kipling's I've read so I'm expecting to like Kim. I will post a full review when I'm finished.

Good luck with the Classics Challenge! I look forward to reading your thoughts on your choices. It's been a long while since I read Uncle Tom's Cabin and The Sea Wolf. Happy Reading! - Literary Feline

Thanks. I'm looking forward to Uncle Tom's Cabin. I've read one other book by Stowe called The Pearl of Orr's Island and really enjoyed it.

I haven't read any of these books, although I've read others by Buck, Kipling, and London. I'm definitely going to have to check back to see how this turns out.
